RICHARD DELANO CRAMER, 69, of Frederick died on Monday, January 11, 2010 after a courageous nine-year battle with olfactory neuroblastoma. He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Barbara Butts Cramer.
Born September 17, 1940 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Austin Lee and Mary Miller Cramer.
Richard was a 1958 graduate of Frederick High School. At one time Richard worked for Ford
Motor Co., Vitro Laboratory, a distributor for the Washington Post for 34 years, Frederick County Schools, and a Job he loved-driving a bus for Day Break Adult Services. Richard was president of Frederick National Little League from 1980 to 1985 . He bowled at Village Lanes for many years. He Loved watching his grandsons play baseball, football, and basketball. He enjoyed his summer Place at River Bend Park, WV. Richard attended Locust Valley Bible Church.
Besides his wife, Barbara, Richard is survived by three children: Gary D. And wife Cindi, and their children Laura, Rachel, and Charlee of McHenry, MD; Vicki Cramer Wetzel and husband Marvin, and their sons Bradley and Alex of Keedysville and Spc. Matthew Wetzel of Ft. Myers, VA; Michael W. Cramer and wife Leasa, and his children Maegan, Hayley, Shelby and stepson, LAN Virts.
Richard is survived by his brothers Roger Cramer and wife Melva of Florida, Bernie Cramer and wife Marge of SC, and special sister-in-law, Bunny Cramer of Middletown.
He was predeceased by brother Artie Cramer on November 1, 2007. He will be missed by his faithful companion, Jake.
Richard is also survived by his father-in-law, Charles Butts of Middletown, brother-in-law Wade Butts and wife, Kathy of Chambersburg, PA, sister-in-law Carol Butts Lewis and husband Bob of Hagerstown, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, particularly Janet King and husband Billy of Frederick.
The family would like to thank their friends, neighbors, and co-workers for their prayers, cards, visits, and support.
They also thank Drs. Kirt Jackson, Joseph Asuncion, Alan Nagel, staff at Parkview Medical Group, FMH Regional Cancer Therapy Center, doctors and staff at UMD Hospital, Hospice of Frederick County, Bill Wachter, Dick Stull, and Leslie Schultz of Day Break Adult Services.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 13, from 2 - 4 and 6 - 9 p.m. At the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.
Services:
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. On Thursday, January 14, at the Locust Valley Bible Church, 1323 Marker Road, Middletown, with Pastor Curvin Stambaugh officiating.
Interment will be private.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Bradley, Matthew, and Alex Wetzel, nephews Randy, Jeff, and Steve Cramer, and honorary pallbearer, friend Fred Stoneham.
