Mr. Richard Courtney Burns, 84, of Easton, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 28, 2016, at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore.

Born on January 13, 1932 in Mt. Airy, he was the second of four children to Clifton and Emily Burns and proud grandson to Milton Watkins.

On March 8, 1952 he married Dolores Stup and together they had two daughters: Vicki and Renee. Courtney and Dolores enjoyed so very many friends and family.

His career began in the early 1950's in Silver Spring with The T.W. Perry Company where he retired after 47 joyous years. His enthusiasm for life and mischievous wit made him fast friends to all he met. Courtney most valued his lifelong friendships. He was active in many service organizations including the Jaycees, Lions Club and The Damascus Rotary Club where he was awarded the Paul Harris Award. As a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for over 20 years, he positively affected and lifted the spirits of patients battling cancer. His favorite times were spent traveling with Dolores, their dear friends and vacations with his ever growing family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Dolores; his daughters: Vicki (Jon), Renee (Mark) and Sam; grandchildren: Lauren Bland, John Genovese, Courtney and Michael Gorman, Alexandra Bland, Connor Richard Bland, Carolyn and Christopher Hedlund; great granddaughters: Hazel and Waylon Gorman; brothers and sisters: Charles Burns, Yvonne Gosnell, Catherine Lowman all of Mt. Airy, Bobby Burns, Bonnie Burns-Jacques and Sandra Burns all of Frederick.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 6, at First Presbyterian Church of Annapolis, 171 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis, MD 21401. a reception will immediately follow at the Eastport Yacht Club, 317 1st St., Annapolis, MD 21403. Interment will be private.
