Mr. Richard “Buzz” Monroe Crum, 86 of Walkersville, Maryland passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at his home. He was the husband of the late Betty A. Crum who passed away in 2006.
Born July 3, 1926 in Walkersville, MD he was the son of the late Claude R. and Hazel Mae Crum.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1946-1948. Buzz worked for H. Muller-Thyme as a truck driver for 45 years.
He was a life member of the American Legion in Woodsboro. He enjoyed bowling, camping and building and flying model planes. In his early years, he also enjoyed spending time with his friends flying at the Frederick Airport.
Buzz enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His home was known as the “truck stop” and many would stop in daily for their coffee breaks and to visit.
Surviving are seven children, Charles R. Crum and wife Karen of Woodsboro, Shelia E. Brandenburg and husband Ernie of Adamstown, JoAnn Lakin and husband David of Thurmont, Brenda L. Drury and husband Tom of Thurmont, Thomas A. Crum of Walkersville, Deborah J. Harbaugh and husband Jeffrey of Thurmont and Robert E. Crum and wife Cathy of Walkersville; 5 grandchildren: Eric Crum, Jeffrey Harbaugh, Jr., Shannon Bowman and husband Timothy, Christopher Brandenburg and Joshua Brandenburg; two great grandchildren: Joshua Brandenburg, Jr. and Jacob Brandenburg; 8 step-grandchildren, 14 step-great grandchildren; His brother and sister-in-laws: Milton C. Denn and wife Dolores of Walkersville, Thomas A. Denn and wife Janie of Frederick, Florence M. Schell of Walkersville and Dorothy E. Valentine and husband Donald of Thurmont; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Richard was the last surviving of his siblings. He is preceded in death by his three brothers, Arthur, James and Norman Crum and his sister, Caroline Hull.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Ave., Walkersville on Sunday, February 17th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, February 18th  at 11:00am with Pastor Mark L. Foucart officiating.
Interment will be in Glade Cemetery, Walkersville.
