Mr. Richard Eugene Wilson, 70, of Brunswick, MD passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Golden Living Nursing Center. He was the beloved husband of Kay Wilson.
Born on May 20, 1942 in Jefferson Co., WV he was the son of the late Clem Leo and Bessie Lillian Griffith Wilson.
Mr. Wilson was retired from B & O Railroad. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church, Brunswick, a member of the Brunswick Moose Lodge and the Blue Ridge Gun Club. He loved spending time with his wife Kay of 52 years. He enjoyed working with his hands, the outdoors, and his dog Luke. He was known for his sense of humor. If there was a food line, he was sure to be found at the front of it. He enjoyed his children and their families, especially his grandchildren. His smile, hearty laugh and stories will live on in their hearts forever.
In addition to his wife, Kay, he is survived by his children Karen Haugh and husband Carroll of Brunswick, Robin Thompson and husband Claggie of Jefferson and his son Richard Wilson, Jr. and wife Shirl (Mindy) of Knoxville; grandchildren Jason Thompson and wife Kandice and Brandon Thompson and significant other Kelsey Taylor, Jessica Higgins and husband Charles, Ashley Ayers and fiance Ricky Shriver, Zachary Thompson, Nicholas Thompson, Kaylee Wilson and Abby Wilson; three great-grandchildren and his brother Delano Wilson and wife Doris of FL.
He is preceded in death by his brothers Wesley, William, Robert, Paul and John Wilson and his sisters Erma Lewis, Phyllis Yeager, Elizabeth Knight, Mary Waters and Geraldine Buracker.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Maple Ave., Brunswick on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 25 at 10 AM at New Hope United Methodist Church, 7 S Maryland Ave Brunswick, MD. Rev. Katie Bishop will officiate.
Interment will follow at Samples Manor Cemetery in Dargan, MD.
