Richard “Dick” Willhide
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Richard “Dick” Willhide announces his passing on Thursday, February 23, 2023. He is survived by his beloved wife, Glenna, and his four children, Greg (Sherry) Willhide, Missy (Clay) Kinna, Todd (Tina) Willhide, and Steven (Lisa) Willhide. He is additionally remembered by siblings, Peggy White and Bob Willhide; his eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by loving parents Richard, Sr. And Margaret Willhide.
Married as high school sweethearts in 1961, Dick and Glenna’s devotion to one another spanned six decades. Dick’s tireless work ethic culminated in 35 years of service to Moore Business Forms as a pressman. He had an affinity for woodworking, enjoyed lending a hand on his daughter’s farm, and was a faithful congregant of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Dick’s legacy is one of service, having selflessly dedicated over fifty years of volunteer work to the Guardian Hose Company fire department.
To honor his passing, a viewing will be held 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Stauffer Funeral Home in Thurmont. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 1st at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Creagerstown. Following the interment, at Blue Ridge Cemetery, please join us for refreshments at the Thurmont Activities Building to further celebrate Dick’s life.
