Richard Lee Turner

Richard Lee Turner, 86, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed from this life on Friday, March 17, 2023 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD.

Born on March 28, 1936, in Gapland, Maryland, he was the son of the late Albert Luther Turner and Helen Mable (Hagen) Turner.
He was a graduate of Boonsboro High School, class of 1954.

After graduating Richard worked at several places while building his family. He worked for Potomac Dye, Supreme Block, Pangborn Corporation and NAPA Auto Parts.

Richard married the love of his life, Joyce Turner, on November 23, 1960.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 10, the Hagerstown Elks Lodge 378, Williamsport Redmen Tribe 84 and the South Mountain Rod and Gun Club.

Richard enjoyed the outdoors, his favorite activities were camping, fishing, and crabbing. He always enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann Turner (Lohman), children; Cathy Naile (Jake) of Hagerstown, MD, Lisa Vaughn (John) of Carlisle PA, Doug Turner (Andrea), of Boonsboro, MD, and Richard Turner Jr., (Cynthia) of Hagerstown, MD. Grandchildren; Stacy Weaver, Jessica Morris, Grace Vaughn, John Vaughn, Aaron Turner, Alex Turner, and Amanda Turner, five great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Jean Hutzler.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Joan E. Turner.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home,7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, MD.

A celebration of Richard's life journey will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Mountain View Cemetery in Sharpsburg, MD.
