Richard Shaffer
October 20, 1943 — July 26, 2015
Mr. Richard William "Dick" Shaffer, 71, of Walkersville, died Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the loving husband of Sandra Shaffer for 49 years.
Born October 20, 1943 in Graceham, he was a triplet son of Paul W. and Hazel I. (Dunkin) Shaffer.
Dick retired in 1990 as a caster with Eastalco. He greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Bonnie Beard of Walkersville; three sons, Terry Shaffer and wife, Joyce, of Gainesville; Dennis Shaffer and wife, Iris, of Tobyhanna, PA; and Jeffrey Shaffer and wife, Lois, of Smithsburg; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert F. Shaffer and wife, Louise.
He was predeceased by two sisters and four brothers.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 30th at Weller United Methodist Church, 101 N. Altamont Ave., Thurmont, with visitation at church from 10 to 11. Officiating will be Pastor Bob Kells of Weller UMC and Pastor Ronald Simmons of St. Paul AME Church in Dickerson.
Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Cemetery.
