Richard "Dickie" Ryan, 64 of Frederick, MD is at last free from pain and passed on to join his Lord and Saviour after losing his battle with cancer. He died in his home on Friday, August 22nd, 2014 with his wife Sherry Ryan by his side.
Born May 11, 1950 in Orange County, Florida. He was the son of the late Olivia Ryan and Patrick Ryan.
He is survived by his son Joshua Hart and grandson Frank Hart of Frederick, MD, sister Patsy Pinholster and husband Jack of Atlanta, GA. Sister Julie Chismar and husband Doug of Sarasota, FL. mother in law Alice "Hap" Keeney of Frederick, MD, cousins Dwayne Devlibiss and wife Michelle, nephews Mark, Jack and Matthew Pinholster, nieces Laurie Richey and Hannah Chismar and brother Ted Ryan and wife Sandy. He will also be missed by dear friends Rick Corum, Jay Myers, David Valcout, Bunky Myers and Londo the cat.
Dickie enjoyed the finer comforts of life. Sports (he was a lifelong Redskins and Orioles supporter), the beach, cars, music, good food, baking and most importantly good times with family and friends who were drawn to him for his kindness, loyalty, patience, even temperament and ability to incite laughter in everyone he met. Dickie was also a hard worker and drove trucks commercially for 30 years. He served his country in the United States Navy from May 1969-February 1971. He returned to vacation at Chincoteague, VA. every year for his anniversary with wife Sherry, friends and family. It was his favorite place and being able to share that with his grandson Frank was a great pleasure to him.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 25th from 7-9pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 26th at 2:00pm with Rev. Tim May officiating.
Inurnment will take place at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick, MD. directly following services.
