Richard (Dick) Allan Pickette, 82, of Frederick, MD, passed away on November 11, 2023, at home surrounded by his family.
 
He was born on January 1,1941, in Waltham Massachusetts to the late Irene (Stankard) Pickette and the late Romeo Moses Pickette.
 
Dick graduated from St. Charles High School in Waltham, MA and from Northeastern University in Boston with a degree in Business.
 
Throughout his life, Dick worked in Government Contracts with Raytheon, SpaceCom, Contel, GTE, and Sodexo. He was very instrumental on numerous contracts with NASA and his company's satellites that were on several Space Shuttle missions.
 
Dick loved everything about Boston and loved all the New England sports teams: Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins. He was the original “Dance Dad” and supported his girls throughout their dance careers and took them to all their competitions and auditions. He loved golfing and played many rounds as a member of Holly Hills Country Club over the years. The transition from “Dad” to “Papa” was the highlight of his life. He was so proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments. He loved to attend their athletic and academic events.
 
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kaitlyn Roberta Pickette.  In addition to his daughter, he was preceded in death by his siblings; Bob Pickette (Dottie), Harvey Pickette, Donnie Pickette, Sally (Pickette) Waitt (Wally), and Martha (Pickette) Morrisette. 
 
He was also preceded in death by his best friend and brother-in-law Bill Stanley, and brother and sister-in-law, Fred Bryson and Joanie Bryson.
 
He is survived by the love of his life, Barbara Bryson Pickette. Married for 60 years and together for 66 years; they were high school sweethearts. He is also survived by his daughter; BJ (Pickette) Ostrum and son-in-law Arron of Fairplay, Maryland; Daughter; Megan Pickette of Cleveland, Ohio, his three grandchildren; Hunter Ostrum, Bryson Ostrum, and Cash Ostrum of Fairplay, MD; and his favorite granddoggie, Emma Jane Pickette. 
 
He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Roberta (Bryson) Stanley and Mary Kay Bryson of Waltham, MA, brother-in-law Bill Morrissette of Waltham, MA, sister-in-law Eileen Pickette of Pompano Beach, FL, and sister-in-law Ann Pickette of Gloucester, MA.  He will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews who all loved their “Uncle Dickie.”   
 
In lieu of flowers-Dick would ask everyone to please vote Democrat and for people to be kind to one another.
 
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
