Richard (Dick) P. Penna, 75, of Knoxville, MD. died Tuesday evening,
August 16th from brain cancer.
He was born in Palo Alto, California 9/7/1935. Dick graduated undergrad and pharmacy graduate
school from UCSF receiving his PharmD. He is survived by his wife,
Elizabeth Penna; brothers: Albert, Larry, and Peter Penna; daughters: Terri
Kemmerer and Anna Penna, Son: Richard Penna; and 5 grandchildren.
Dick was an accomplished pharmacist
and
wine maker. His Antietam Vineyard
produced award winning varieties of red and white wines. During his
retirement, he served as Chairman of the Governor's Advisory Commission
o
n
Mar
y
land Wine and Grape Growing board and shared his talents providing
classes to novice winemakers. During his professional career in Pharmacy he worked for years to influence policy making, set priorities in public health, and promote a team approach in medicine. He worked for the American Pharmacists Association (APHA) in Washington, DC and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Alexandria, Va. In 2002 he was the recipient of the prestigious Remingt

Award.
A memorial service will be held August 27th at 1:00pm at St.Mary's Catholic
Church, Catholic Church Road, Petersville, MD. In lieu of Flowers, please
