Richard McGeehan

June 14, 1962 — October 10, 2019

Richard Lee McGeehan of Braddock Heights passed away at his home on October 10, 2019. He was born on June 14, 1962 in Washington, D.C. He was the son of Patricia George and the late Robert McGeehan.

Rick spent a lot of years working as a framing and trim carpenter where his attention to detail and relentless pursuit of perfection shined through in his work. He spent time working at Rampmasters with his brother in law James Cooley and then soon after joined Jimmy again working in technology at Sprint.

Rick had many hobbies that he enjoyed throughout his life, he loved working on and racing cars, he spent countless hours working on his motorcycle making sure it was shiny and perfect for when he took a ride along the countryside. He enjoyed watching MMA with his brother-in-law James and his nephew Dustin. He and his nephew Drew worked together on cars, trucks, and dirt bikes in a garage workshop they built together from scratch. Rick enjoyed building computers for himself and his brothers and sisters. He and his brother Randall loved watching NASCAR and talking about cars, Rick would help Randall with his computer and Randall would help Rick with his cars. Rick’s favorite driver was Jeff Gordon.

Rick was an avid gardener who loved spending time outdoors with his good pal Charlie, his loyal and loving dog. His garden was meticulously kept and was his pride and joy. He spent many hours learning about gardening through internet videos and was very happy to share his harvest with his family. He had notebooks that contained every minute detail about his garden from illustrations on how to build it, to seed placement, to irrigation, and future plans for upcoming years, what tomatoes made the salsa and much more. No detail was ever missed. Rick recently cleaned out all of his sister Gina’s flower beds and built her a beautiful deck with perfect craftsmanship.

Rick loved his mother very much and always made sure she never missed any appointments, always had gas in her car, groceries in her refrigerator, a warm meal, and a cinnamon roll on Sunday mornings.

Rick is survived by his mother Patricia, his sisters Gina McGeehan and Loni Cooley and husband James, his brother Randall McGeehan and his wife Donna, his longtime best friend Tammy Foland, 5 nephews and nieces, Dustin Hall, wife Trish, Katelyne Rusenko, husband Steve, Drew Cooley, Elizabeth McGeehan, and Randall Jr. McGeehan, and 5 grandnieces, Bailey Hall, Sydney Hall, Bristol Rusenko, Kori Rusenko, and Kyler Rusenko.
