Richard Martin Marchesano
Richard Marchesano was born on April 1, 1959 to Carole and Martin Marchesano of Des Moines, Iowa. In 1990, he married Pamela. Their son, Nicholas Marchesano, was born in 1992. Rick passed away peacefully on October 30, 2019 in the presence of family.
Rick was known for his creativity, his intense love for his family and friends, and his incomparable sense of humor.
Rick began his career at the Goldberg Marchesano advertising agency. His immense talent was evident at an early age. He won his first of many national advertising awards at the age of 20 for writing and art directing the television commercial Metamorphosis for PBS. The 60-second ad used stop-motion clay animation to transform caricatures of popular celebrities into television sets.
Rick turned his focus from art directing to writing and producing ads. Considered a creative genius by his peers in advertising, Rick was honored with nearly every award in the industry including a “Best of Show” Addy, regional and national Addys, Clio Awards, local Emmys, national Tellys, and the coveted Art Directors Club of New York One Show Gold Pencil. An IKEA commercial wrote and directed by Rick was inducted into the International Clio Hall of Fame in 2009.
His storied career was surpassed only by his love for his wife and son. Rick channeled his creative energy in raising Nick. They were inseparable and his extraordinary love, wise guidance, and pride in his son echo through every facet of Nick’s life.
Richard Marchesano was a loving husband, caring father, fun uncle, mentor, and unparalleled friend. He leaves an enormous hole in the lives of all he touched that will never be filled.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Pamela, his son Nicholas, his brother Joe, his mother Carole, and his stepfather Norman.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held from 2 to 7pm on November 7th, 2019 at 2410 Parkway, Cheverly, MD, 20785. Casual dress and B.Y.O.Bourbon.
