Richard Ade Kerber, Sr., 3/10/1927 - 12/31/2016
Born in Philadelphia, spent his early years in Chester and Delaware Counties (Pennsylvania). Enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1945 just prior to graduation from Marple Newtown High School. He was Class President and Valedictorian. He signed up early to avoid the commensurate speeches. He served at Pearl Harbor, Manchuria, occupied Japan, and Korea.
After his service, he worked in traffic management in the trucking industry. That was his vocation but his real love was horses and fox hunting. He served as "whip" for several fox hunting clubs in Chester County.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Elizabeth B. Kerber, and his two devoted children, his daughter Karen Kerber of Adamstown, Maryland, and his son Richard Kerber, Jr., of Louisville, Kentucky, his adored grandchildren, Rose E. Kerber of Boston, Massachusetts, William J. Kerber of Providence, Rhode Island, Aaron E. Walker of Williamsburg, Virginia, and step-granddaughter Jesse Miller of Baltimore, Maryland.
