Richard Halkyard

Mr. Richard Barton Halkyard, 86, of Frederick, MD, who was a resident of Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center, died Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Ellen Theresa Halkyard.
Born October 14, 1929, in Warren, RI, he was the son of the late John and Edith Halkyard. He graduated from Lennox High School in Lennox, Mass., and worked for Carter Rice Paper Co., and Chatield Paper Company.
Survivors include one son,Richard B. Halkyard, Jr. of North Haven, Conn., and two daughters Ellen Thayer and husband Steve, of Adamstown and Beth Trehey of Washington, D.C.; four grandchildren Katie Halkyard, Kelly Halkyard, Michael Trehey and Jennifer Thayer; one brother, Robert Halkyard and one sister, Cynthia Harriman. He is also survived by his fiancée Barbara Flemming of Frederick, MD.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30AM on Friday, February 19, 2016 at St. Joseph-on-Carrollton Manor, 5843 Manor Woods Rd., Buckeystown. Friends and family will be received at the church on Friday from 9:30AM until the time of the service. Interment will follow the Mass at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Richard's name to Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center Auxiliary Fund, 1920 Rosemont Ave., Frederick, MD 21702.
