Mr. Richard E. Gant, Sr. 96 of Frederick, MD passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Ada Gertrude Gant, his wife of 61 years.
Born March 6, 1914 in Frederick County he was the son of the late Frederick and Gertrude Gant.
He was educated in the state of Virginia. He also served his country in the US Army during World War II. He was employed with Fisher Plumbing the he worked at Fort Detrick in the S.O.S. Division for over 30 years. He also worked for Microbiological in Walkersville until his retirement. He did part time catering and bartending for private parties.
Richard enjoyed cooking, fishing and family outings.
He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church the he later became a member of the Frederick Worship Center (Redeemer International).
He is survived by his three children, Richard E. Gant, Jr. and wife Kay, Brenda A. Foreman and husband Raymond, Pastor Charlotte V. Scott and husband Elder Richard all of Frederick. Six grandchildren, Rebecca Gant, Daphnie Gant-Campbell and husband John, Jeremy Allen Gant Foreman, Richard Scott Jr., Matthew Scott, Lesley Gant-Goines and husband Larry all of Frederick, eight great grandchildren, Ashleigh, Britane, Alexandra, Larry Jr., Braden, Jayden, Makayla and Kellen.
He will also be remembered by his numerous niece’s nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousin.
He was the soul survivor of his immediately family.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Saturday, September 11, 2010 from 9:00AM-10:00AM. Services will then begin at 10:00AM in the Stauffer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chris Geeslin officiating.
Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.
