Richard Easterday, Sr.

Richard L. Easterday, Sr., 83, of Boonsboro, Maryland, joined his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown.

Born on January 23, 1931, in Washington County, Maryland, he was the son of the late Sylvester "John" Reeder and Bernice Virginia (Jones) Easterday.

Dick retired in 1993 from Statton Furniture where he was employed for over 40 years.  He also truck farmed with his father.

He was a longtime member and Head Council Member of the Boonsboro Family Worship Center Church of God, where he was known for his time caring for the church grounds and mowing the grass.

Dick was a loving and dedicated family man and he particularly enjoyed his coffee time with his good friends at the AC&T station in Boonsboro.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen V. (Griffith) Easterday; one son, Richard L. Easterday, Jr. and wife Sue of Hagerstown; one granddaughter, Sharon L. Bell and husband John of Hagerstown; and two great grandchildren, Cody A. Delauney and wife Katlein of Charleston, South Carolina and Laura E. Bell of Ijamsville, Maryland.  He is also survived by one great-great granddaughter, Lila M. Bell.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 24, 2014 at the Boonsboro Family Worship Center, 7605 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.  Rev. Jack C. Payne, Jr. will officiate.  Final resting place ceremonies will follow at the Boonsboro Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro, as well as one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
