RICHARD DE LAUTER

October 26, 1928 — November 20, 2015

Mr. Richard “Dick” DeLauter, 87, of Myersville, Maryland, passed away  Friday, November 20, 2015 at his home.  He was the husband of the late Dolores A. Brown DeLauter who preceded him in death April 27, 1995.  They had been married forty seven years.

Born October 26, 1928 hear Myersville, he was the son of the late Aaron R. DeLauter and Mary Catherine DeLauter Flook.

Mr. DeLauter was a graduate of Capitol Radio Engineering Institute and the Grantham School of Engineering.  He held a First Class Radiotelephone License issued by the Federal Communications Commission.  He was also a licensed private airplane pilot.  Dick retired in December 1985 from the US Army Medical Material Development Agency with 35 years of service.  During those years, he also served with Fort Detrick’s Biological Warfare program, the US Army Institute of Infectious Disease, the US Army Medical Material Agency and Headquarters Health Services Command, Fort Sam Houston, Texas.   During those 35 years, he received many Awards and Citations.  Along with his wife, he owned and operated DeLauter Electronics in Frederick from 1952 – 1962.  For several years he was Chief Engineer for Jim Gibbons Radio (WFMD-WFRE) of Frederick.  Mr. DeLauter was a member of Grossnickle Church of the Brethren.

He is survived by his children Anthony D. DeLauter and wife Thelma, Harry J. DeLauter, Sr. and wife Karen and Irene Lewis and husband George all of Myersville, twenty one grandchildren, many great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and a half-sister Emma Jean Darlington.  He was preceded in death by two daughters Deborah A. Kline and Veronica J. Stottlemyer.

Funeral services will be held at Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, 11301 Meeting House Road, Myersville, MD at 1:00pm, Friday, November 27, 2015 with Pastor Tim Ritchey Martin officiating.

Interment in the church cemetery
