Richard Anthony Berardi 70, of Frederick, MD, passed from this life on Thursday, December 1st, 2022, after a 6 year battle with aggressive prostate cancer. He was the beloved husband of Mary S. Komons-Berardi for 38 wonderful years.
Born on September 10, 1952, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Richard Anthony and Elizabeth (Betty Cohen) Berardi.
Rick was a graduate of Springbrook high school, in Colesville, MD, Class of 1970. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in accounting taking night and on-line courses over several years. Rick spent
7 ½ years serving our country as a Sargeant in the U.S. Air Force. He worked in accounting and finance and also worked as a professional tax preparer for more than 40 years. Rick had a devote work ethic and with several CPA firms laying him off after tax season, he worked remarkably hard to keep his family safe and secure. Finally, he landed a position that captured all of his skill and interest, working for HRSA as an auditor. He talked often of the wonderful team of people he worked with and grew very fond of. It was a sad day, due to his illness, he needed to retire.
Rick loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Dance parties, karaoke nights, computer or video games, puzzles, Pokémon go, or teaching them how to pan for gold. So many experiences and trips to Disney or the beach. He was all about making memories. He loved his “Brother trips” to Vegas and talked about his many childhood antics. In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by his children, Heather Grisham (Chad), Nicole Berardi (Brian Brickey), Richie Berardi III and Alexis Berardi. His grandchildren, Payton Brickey (15), R.J. Berardi (13), Bailey Brickey (8), Hunter Grisham (5) and Callie Grisham (3weeks). His brothers, Wayne, Stephen (Margie), Jeffrey (Jackie) and Michael (Wanda) as well as many nieces and nephews.
