Richard "Rich" Arthur Allmang, 73, died on November 3, 2017, at Genesis Healthcare-Shady Grove Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rockville, MD. He was born in Bloomfield, New Jersey, to the late William and Mildred O. Allmang.
He leaves his daughters Bethany Burnett and husband Ben, Kelly Govern and husband James, and Skye Allmang; his grandchildren Aiden and Brynn; his brother Robert Allmang; niece Alyson Fitzsimons, husband Darren, and children; former spouse Nancy; and close friends in Florida and Maryland.
After graduating from high school in Bloomfield, New Jersey, Rich received a B.A. from Bloomfield College. He then attended Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Massachusetts, and afterward enlisted in the United States Air Force. There he worked in the field of medical supply and was stationed at Stewart Air Force Base in New York.
After leaving the Air Force, Rich worked as an insurance claims examiner for many years. In later years he taught English at the Sawyer Business School in Elizabeth, New Jersey, where he was Dean of the Evening Division.
Rich enjoyed spending time with family. His daughters meant the world to him.
He also was well known for his love of cars, Coca Cola, and vacationing in Cape May, New Jersey.
Stauffer Funeral Home has handled funeral arrangements. There will be a private gathering at a family home in Rich’s memory on December 3.
