Rev. Vicki Dotterer

Vicki Michael Dotterer, age 72, died on September 26, 2024, in Frederick, MD after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. She is survived by her husband Leslie, daughter Katherine, son Michael, Michael's wife Terri, their two children, Nathan and Amelia, and her sister Netta Nesbitt.Vicki was born on May 30, 1952 to the late Sylvia Michael and Gilbert Michael in Lancaster, PA. She met her husband Leslie on a cross-country bicycle trip in 1976, and she married him just 10 months later, and they were married 47 years. After several years in Texas, she and Leslie moved to Maryland and lived there for over 40 years. Then in 1991, Vicki met her soul sister Patricia Huff, and although they didn't quite like each other at first, they became best friends and remained friends until Vicki died. 

She was a loving and proud mother and grandmother, and she adored telling everyone about her family (much to their embarrassment.) Vicki was always animated and often loud (whether happy or angry or sad), and she could talk to people about almost anything for hours. During her life, Vicki had a variety of jobs, from butcher shop clerk to freelance photographer, but she saved the career of her heart until last-a pastor. She was a pastor in the United Methodist Church for 15 years and loved preaching, building relationships, and fostering others' spiritual journeys. Vicki will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and everyone she touched in her life.

A celebration of Vicki's life journey will be held at The Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 3519 Urbana Pike in Frederick, MD on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 10:00AM. Interment will be privately held at a later date.
