Mrs. Regina V. “Dolly” Sweeney, 81, of Thurmont died on Tuesday November 27, 2012 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Clifford Ford Sweeney who she married in November of 1948.
Born on May 5, 1931 in Thurmont she was the daughter of the late Guy and Mary Miller Martin.
She was a graduate of Thurmont High School. She dedicated her life raising her children. She was a life member of Harriet Chapel.
She is survived by her children Sandy Burrier, Randy Sweeney and wife Debbie, Jody Eiker and husband Nevin, David Sweeney, Colleen Smith and husband Frank and Debby Kay Sweeney-Bolin and husband Leroy. Sister in Law Angel Toms and husband Bobby. Brother in law George Moser and Special cousin Joan Wisner. Grandchildren; Jamie Burrier, Blaine Burrier, Beth Knott, Randy Sweeney Jr., Tammy Harrington, Andy Eiker, Jenny Smith, Kelly Hardy, Sherri Haynes and Ryan Hinkle. Great grandchildren; Jimmy and Jeremy Burrier, Chase Woodson, Chad Knott Jr. and Colby Knott, Danielle, Logan, Aubrey and Mya Harrington. Lexi Eiker, Jacob and Joseph Wentz, Shelby and Leah Harbaugh, Kaitlynn Ketterman, Samantha and Jessica Late, McKenzie and Wyatt Haynes and Larena Hinkle. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant sons Richard and Mark Sweeney. Brother and sister in law Norris and Janet Martin, sister Betty Moser, infant sisters Gloria and Rebecca Martin, son in law Jim Burrier. Brothers in law and their spouses, James, Donald, Harold, Albert, John, Emmanuel, Elmer, and Paul Sweeney. Sister in law Eliza Knott and her spouse.
Visitation will be held on Thursday November 29, 2012 from 6-9pm at the Stauffer Funeral Home, P. A., 104 East Main Street, Thurmont. Funeral services will be 11:00am on Friday November 30, 2012 at Harriet Chapel, 12625 Catoctin Furnace Road, Thurmont, MD 21788. The Reverend Sally Joyner-Giffin will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Prospect Church, Cemetery, Lewistown.
