Rebecca Andrews Guenthner

Mrs. Rebecca Andrews Guenthner, formerly of Knightdale, N.C., and Wheaton, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, in her home surrounded by her family.

Nin was born in North Carolina on Sept. 15, 1944, to the late Edward Andrews and Meta Poole Andrews.

Nin was preceded in death by her precious grandson, Jacob Philip Frazier of Hedgesville, W.Va.; a dear brother, Joseph Edward Andrews of Knightdale, N.C.; and her sister, Mary Elizabeth Strickland of Knightdale.

Nin moved to Maryland in the mid-1960s and started working for the federal government.

Throughout a 25-year period, she dedicated herself to her career and worked her way up the corporate ladder. She received many awards and made many friends along the way. Nin retired in 1995 as chief of the Acquisitions Management and Operations Branch, Office of Administrative Services, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

She fought breast cancer in 2007 and continued to care for her loving husband.

She did not give up.
She did not cry.
She did not complain.
She graciously accepted her path that God put before her.

Nin is survived by her loving husband, Ruben Eugene Guenthner of Frederick; and his four children and families. Daughter, Vicky Dawn McElroy of Titusville, Fla.; sons, Edward Scott Frazier of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Thomas Charles Frazier of Frederick; granddaughters, Rebecca Rae McElroy of Titusville, Fla., and Raechel Ann McElroy of Titusville; brother, William Henry Andrews of Knightdale, N.C.; and sisters, Cassie Bailey of Wendell, N.C., and Joyce Barnes of Wendell.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Services: Services will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tim May officiating.
Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1393 Progress Way, Eldersburg, MD 21784 or Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
