Rebecca Schirf

Rebecca Jean Schirf, 93, of Colorado Springs, CO, passed from this life to be with the Lord on Monday, September 2, 2019 at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick MD.

Born on September 21, 1925 in Scranton PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Reid and Mabel (Moll) Reid.

She was the loving wife of the late Paul Francis Schirf, her husband for 26 years.

She is survived by her children, Paul Francis Schirf, Jr. and his wife Kathie, Rebecca C. Glumac, Mike Schirf and his wife Julie, and Martina Lynn Johnson Conway and her husband Patrick.  She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Amanda Schirf Cubello, Ashley Schirf Anderson, Tony Glumac, Mickey Glumac, Kim Glumac Dodson, Michael Todd Schirf, Megan Johnson Autry, Rebecca Johnson Sullivan, and her twelve great-grandchildren Zach Cubello, Tyler Cubello, Lizzy Cubello, Ellie Anderson, Ryan Anderson, Claire Dodson, Chase Dodson, Colin Dodson, Olivia Glumac, Selah Autry, Adelyn Autry, Rory Conway, as well as her faithful and loving companion, Chloe.

Jean was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, mother-in-law, and a friend to all she met.   She will be remembered fondly for her love and kindness, humor and story-telling, strong will, and feisty, tenacious spirit ,,, plus all the delicious meals and desserts she served us over the years.  Her pot roast will be missed!

A celebration of Jean’s life journey will take place on Monday, September 16, 2019 at the Graceham Moravian Church, 8231 Rocky Ridge Road, Thurmont MD at 1:00. Rev. Allen Behnke will officiate. Interment will follow at Gettysburg National Cemetery, followed by a short reception at the Graceham Moravian Church for conversation and memories.
