Reba Alice Schildt Staley

Mrs. Reba Alice Schildt Staley, 96, of Walkersville departed this life on Wednesday March 10, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Raymond E. Staley who died on June 28, 1976.

Born on May 13, 1913 in New Midway, She was the daughter of the late Silas C. and Clara Virginia Hummer Schildt.

She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Walkersville for over 60 years and prior to that was a member of Rocky Ridge Church of the Brethren. She graduated from Walkersville High School in 1931. For many years she and her husband owned and operated Staley's General Merchandise in Walkersville. She then worked in the Glade Valley Bakery office for 18 years.

She was a member of Walkersville Senior Citizens, The former 3 f's class of St. Paul's , Citizens Nursing Home Auxiliary and the Frederick AARP.

Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews; John W., Kenneth L., Howard E., Melvin E., Donald W., Howard, Harold and Carroll Schildt and their families as well as David Lewis and Francis Hummer. Surviving nieces include Darlene Dowery, Mary Katherine Long, Genevieve Portner and Martha Snyder and their families. Also a devoted friend Millie Sayler.

She was preceded in death by brothers Leslie, Atlee, and Ellis as well as a sister Catherine.

Services: Visitation will be held at the The Monocacy Congregation Church of The Brethren, 13517 Motters Station Rd, Rocky Ridge, on Saturday March 13, from 10:00am until time of Funeral Services at 11:00am. Reverend John Schildt and Reverend Tomas Perry will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Monocacy Church of the Brethren in c/o Bob Free, 9602 D. Rocky Ridge Road, Rocky Ridge, MD. 21775.
