Raymond "Tuck" Souders

Raymond Leroy "Tuck" Souders, 92, of Myersville, Maryland, passed from this life on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at his home.

Born on September 18, 1923, in Mt. Lena, Washington County, Maryland, he was the son of the late Elmer and Leona (Smith) Souders.

Tuck and his wife, Betty (Green) Souders, were married on May 25, 1944, and were married for 71 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Paul "Butch" Souders and wife Karen of Boonsboro, Robert "Bob" Souders of Myersville; and two daughters, Sandra Lewis and husband Gabriel of Garfield, and Marlene Stotler and husband James of Myersville.  He is also survived by ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  Also surviving are step-brothers, James Lewis and wife Joanne; Lester Lewis, Jr. and wife Mary Lou; and step-sisters, Ruth Dagenhart; Kathleen Green and husband Jerry and Hazel Cook.

Tuck was preceded in death by his two sons and daughter in law, Larry Souders and wife Sandy, and infant son Roy Souders.  Also preceding Tuck in death was his brother Glen Souders and step sister Betty Miller.

Tuck liked to deer hunt, cut wood, garden and hunting mushrooms.  He retired after 20 years of service with Kettler Brothers Builders.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the Pleasant Walk United Methodist Church, 11240 Pleasant Walk Road in Myersville.  Pastor Randy Reid will officiate.  Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.
