On a crisp sunny afternoon with his devoted parents and sisters by his side Randy went peacefully from this world.
Randy was born May 5, 1959 in Frederick, MD. He was the son of Henry Ira Stafford and Martha Jane Lewis Stafford of Lonaconing, MD. His paternal grandparents, Henry and Eloise Stafford and maternal grandparents, Owen and Eva Lewis, Sr. preceded him in death.
Randy graduated from Thomas Johnson High School in 1977 and Montgomery Community College. He started working at WRC-NBC as an intern and after graduation became a full time employee. His positions included ABC Operator, Lighting Director, Studio Cameraman, Technical Director, Stage Manager, Set Staging Technician, Audio Technician, Robotics Operator and Prompter Operator. He did a lot of things and did them well. He worked on special events in the studio and the field, and was also selected as a crew member for the Olympics held in Greece and Italy. He was still employed with NBC when he became ill with a flu virus that his body could not overcome.
Outside of work, at his home in Frederick he hosted many fun filled pool parties his nieces and nephews, Cody Wachter, Stacey Wachter, Jessie and John Patton, Jeffrey Garrett and Katie Garrett especially loved Uncle Randy's gatherings. No one ever left hungry. At Christmas he always brought surprise gifts for everyone. Randy is known for his great love for his dogs: Coax, Patch, Mason and Chance, who he affectionately referred to as the Knuckleheads.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving sisters, Krista Boteler and husband, Bill; Patty Stafford and fiancé Mike Case.
Randy is also survived by aunts and uncles: Allen Stafford, Leona Beeman, Marvin and Lois Lewis, Eileen Lewis, Donna Summers and Ruth Neilson. He was predeceased by Owen and Phyllis Lewis and Dale Lewis, and Jack Summers. He leaves behind many Stafford and Lewis cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Sunday, March 6, 2016 from 1-4PM and Monday, March 7 from 11AM-12PM where a service will begin at 12PM. Rev. Tim May will officiate.
Interment will be private.
