Randall Sweeney

Mr.Randall L. Sweeney, 66, of Thurmont, Maryland, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2016, at his residence. He was the husband of Debbie Sweeney, his wife of 46 years.

Born on July 10, 1950, in Frederick he was the son of the late Clifford F. and Regina V. "Dolly" Martin Sweeney. He was a 1968 graduate of Thurmont High School.

Randy retired as a carpenter with The City of Frederick. He was a member of Thurmont American Legion and AMVETS as well as the South Mountain Rod and Gun Club.

Randy was a lifetime member of Harriet Chapel Episcopal Church where he made gallons of apple butter for the Fallfest. He enjoyed playing softball as a member of the Blue Mountain Raiders and Bells Electric teams. Randy was a devoted grandfather attending the many events in which his grandchildren participated.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two children: Randy Sweeney, Jr. and wife Christine of Thurmont and Tammy Harrington and husband Robert of Emmitsburg; four grandchildren: Danielle, Logan, Aubrey and Mya Harrington; brothers and sisters: Sandra Burrier, Jody Eiker and husband Nevin, David Sweeney, Colleen Smith and husband Frank, Debby Bolin and husband Leroy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by a special cousin, Theresa Knott and his father-in-law, Jim Bell.

Mr. Sweeney was preceded in death by brothers: Mark and Richard Sweeney, a brother-in-law Jim Burrier, and mother-in-law Pauline Bell.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Thursday, August 4, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St. ,Thurmont.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 5, at Harriet Chapel Episcopal Church, 12625 Catoctin Furnace Road, Thurmont, MD, 21788, with Rev. Sally Joyner-Giffin officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the above named church. Arrangements are by Stauffer Funeral Home, Thurmont
