Mr. Ralph B. Ramsburg, 85, a lifelong resident of Lewistown, MD went to be with the Lord on May 8, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Betty Ramsburg for 64 years and the cherished father of Patricia Kerns Nelson and husband Keith of Waynesboro, PA and Roberta Garber Harner of Frederick, MD. He is also survived by his grandchildren Terry Kerns and wife Lisa, Waynesboro, PA and Rachael Hess and husband Steve, Thurmont, MD and was preceded in death by grandson Rusty Garber, Emmitsburg, MD. He will be missed by his great-grandchildren Dylan Kerns, Avis Kerns, Ashton Kerns, Samantha Hess, Bailey Hess, Blaine Hess, Tristan Hess, Ricky Garber, Morgan Garber and Levy Garber. Ralph was the son of Norman and Nellie Ramsburg bron on May 24, 1926. He is survived by one brother, Herbert Ramsburg, Harpers Ferry , WV. He was preceded in death by siblings Claude Ramsburg, Elizabeth Staub, Earl Ramsburg, Ira Ramsburg, and Esther Ramsburg. He will be missed by close friends Betty Adkins, Felix and Evelyn Flanagan and Charles and Peggy Warfield.
Ralph served in World War II on the USS Monrovia. He retired from Fort Detrick and later worked for the Frederick County School Board. Throughout his life he was devoted to his family, friends, and farming. He enjoyed attending local festivals and dinners to commune with friends and neighbors. Ralph never met a stranger- only new friends. He was a gentle and kind soul and will be missed by all.
Visitation with the family will be held at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 East Main St., Thurmont, MD, on Friday, May 11, 2012 from 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at 11AM in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, May 12.
Interment will be held at Utica Lutheran Cemetery, Utica, MD following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ralph's memory may be made to the Lewistown United Methodist Church, 11032 Hessong Bridge Road, Thurmont, MD 21788.
