Rachel Emrich

Rachel Lee Willis Emrich died on July 22, 2011. She was the wife of Chief Warrant Officer Edgar G. Emrich who died in 1999. They were married 67 years.

Mrs. Emrich was born in Huntsville, MO on December 11, 1911 to Charles F. and Matilda Jones Willis. She was raised in Tracy, CA and graduated from Tracy High School and Mulvihill College of Business, San Francisco, CA. She was a homemaker and retired accountant.

Surviving are three children, Margo E. Trexler and husband Bob Clayton (Middletown, MD), Carol L. Emrich (Baltimore, MD) and Charles F. Emrich (Frederick, MD), two grandsons, Gregory N. Trexler and wife Kate (Middletown, MD) and Scott E. Trexler (Rocky Ridge, MD), two great grandchildren Lilian and Lincoln Trexler and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a sister, Thelma Willis Ellis, and two brothers, Curtis C. Willis and Carson G. Willis. She was the last of her immediate family.

Mrs. Emrich was a devout member of the Thurmont United Methodist Church, Thurmont, MD where she was a past Sunday School Superintendent, member of the Administrative Board, Secretary of Council of Ministries, Sunday School teacher, Membership Chairman and a dedicated member of the Clothes Closet.

Mrs. Emrich was also active in community organizations. She was a past member and officer of the Thurmont Business and Professional Women’s Club, was Woman of the Year in 1982, was a member of the ARC of Frederick County, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #168 and the Fleet Reserve Auxiliary Unit #142.

She loved playing bridge, attending bible studies and was a fan of the Baltimore Orioles.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont, Friday, July 29, from 2 -4 and 6 -8 pm. Services will be held at the Thurmont United Methodist Church, 13880 Long Road, Thurmont on Saturday, July 30, at 1:00 pm with Rev. Gary Morgan officiating.

Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thurmont United Methodist Church Building Fund, 13880 Long Road, Thurmont, MD 21788.
