Priscilla Aloise

May 28, 1931 — October 10, 2020

Priscilla Fields Aloise of Frederick, Maryland passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2020 with her loving daughter Katherine and son-in law Thomas at her side. Born May 28, 1931 in Salisbury, Maryland, Priscilla was raised in Nanticoke with her 3 older sisters. She was the daughter of the town doctor, Daniel Allen Fields, MD and Dorothy Barker Fields. The Fields Girls had many adventures growing up and living on the Nanticoke River. During World War II she accompanied her sisters while they manned a watchtower-keeping an eye out for German U-boats and fighter planes that might enter from the bay.

Heading to the Midwest for college, Priscilla graduated in 1952 from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in Spanish. She was not only intelligent, but also had a genuine love of learning-especially about other cultures. She was a member of the International Club and spent a summer living in Mexico City.

Priscilla moved to New York after college, where she remained until 2012. She was a professional singer, who made it all the way to Carnegie Hall. She then pursued her passion for writing and editing, first as a textbook editor at Globe Book Company, and then as a travel writer for the New York edition of Where Magazine. It was in New York where she met her husband, the late Frank Edward Aloise-a graphic artist at NBC, who also illustrated over 150 children’s books.

Priscilla had a great appreciation of the arts and enjoyed spending time at the Metropolitan Museum, Lincoln Center, and Carnegie Hall with her husband and daughter. She was also passionate about nature and environmental conservation, supporting numerous non-profit organizations and studying their causes.

In addition to her daughter and son-in-law, Priscilla is survived by her sister, Nancy Fields. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Frank Edward Aloise (d. 1989), and sisters Ann F. Skinner (d. 2011) and Jane F. Beardsley (d. 2016).

Services and interment will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association Western Maryland Chapter, 108 Byte Drive, Suite 103, Frederick, MD, 21702 ; www.alz.org/maryland.
