Preston Buck

Preston Van Horn Buck, 95, of Hagerstown, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Village at Robinwood in Hagerstown. He was the loving husband to Dorothy Buck for nearly 70 years until her passing.

Born on August 17, 1923, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Howard R. and Mabel Edith (Van Horn) Buck.

Preston was a graduate of Boonsboro High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in WWII from 1943-1945. He was a member of the Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 in Boonsboro.

Preston was employed by Fairchild Aircraft retiring in 1987.

He and his wife, Dorothy, were members of the Central United Brethren Church in Rohrersville until it closed in 2010.

Preston loved his family, fishing in Canada and antiquing. He was known as a "jack of all trades" in the Rohrersville area.

Preston is survived by his daughters, Darlene E. Starleper of Boonsboro, Christine M. Barkdoll of Hagerstown and Rosemary L. Long and husband, John, of Frederick; grandchildren, Wendi Starleper, Jason Barkdoll, Lindsey Long and Lauren Long; and his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Karen Buck; a grandson, Kevin Barkdoll; and brothers, Samuel O. Buck and Marvin H. Buck.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro, Maryland.

A celebration of Preston's life journey will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 7, 2019, at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro, Maryland.  Rev. Victor Moon will officiate.  Burial will be held at Pleasant View Cemetery in  Rohrersville, Maryland.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Robinwood Senior Living Center, 19800 Tranquility Circle, Hagerstown, MD 21742 or to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
