Phyllis Marlene Willis

Ms. Phyllis Marlene Willis, 50 of Mt. Airy, died Thursday, December 24, 2009 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital.

She was the daughter of Faith Myers Stanton of Mt. Airy and her husband Carlton, and the late Howard E, Smith, Sr.

Phyllis was employed at the Frederick Memorial Hospital for 8 years, her last position being an ER Assistant. She enjoyed writing poetry.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by four sons Darwick D. Smith and fiance Nicole of Randallstown, Byron L. Willis, Jr and wife Stacy of NC, James A. Willis of Ellicott City and Brian E. Willis of Westminster, seven grandchildren Virgie Lee of Frederick, Howard Smith, Jr. Of Gaithersburg, Loretta Willis of Columbia, Yvonne Newman of Catonsville, Pam Smith and Keith Smith of Mt. Airy. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers Bruce and Samuel Smith and 2 sisters Cecelia and Tracy Smith.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Staufffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd. Mt. Airy, MD on Wednesday, December 30, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.

Services: Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 31, at 11:00 a.m. From the Calvary United Methodist Church, 403 S. Main St., Mt. Airy with Rev. Gregory McNeil officiating.
