Phyllis Wood

Phyllis A. (Younkins) Wood, 82, currently of Hagerstown and formerly of Dover, DE, passed peacefully on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Doey's House in Hagerstown.
Born on April 18, 1938 in Mapleville, she was the daughter of the late Clarence I. and Frances C. (Ford) Younkins.
Her husband, Walter C. Wood preceded her in death in 1992.
Phyllis was a member of the Greenbrier Baptist Church where she was involved in various activities.
Mrs. Wood retired in 1985 after 10 years of service as a secretary with Prudential Insurance.  She continued to stay busy with various jobs including co-owning a business after her retirement.
She is survived by her son, Michael W. Wood along with his wife Barb of Orbisonia; her daughter Brandy N. Wood of Sharpsburg; her son Gregory L. Wood; her brother Charles E. Younkins of Hagerstown;  9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchildren.  She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her uncle, Roger Ford.
Friends are invited to visit at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland, on Thursday, November 5, 2020 where the family will receive friends from 6-8pm.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover, Delaware.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Greenbrier Baptist Church, 20810 National Pike, Boonsboro, MD 21713.
