Phyllis Martin, 82, of Taneytown, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at her home. She was the wife of Ken Martin for 62 years. Born on July 6, 1940, in Adamstown, she was the daughter of Howard Stup and Lucille (Virts) Stup.
Mrs. Martin worked at the Frederick County Courthouse, later working at the Maryland Assessment Office. Phyllis was also a co-owner of Tire Mart, downtown Frederick for many years and was a farmer on her own farm in Taneytown.
She enjoyed dining with family and friends, wine making and watching sports, especially the Ravens, as well as going to the West Virginia mountains and riding ATV's.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Karen Nikirk and husband, Mitch; her sisters, Annabelle Easton and Helen Powell; a sister-in-law Texanna Stup; brothers-in-law: Odale Martin and Herb Martin and wife Phyllis as well as a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Lorraine Biser, Francis Walter and Howard Stup, Jr. as well as brothers-in-law Roland Biser, Carroll Walter, Earl Easton and Kenneth Powell.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 7 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 8 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Stauffer Funeral Home, Frederick. Interment will be at Manor Reformed Cemetery, Adamstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to James Stockman Cancer Institute, 1562 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702.
