Philip R. Stotelmyer, 84, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Born on November 28, 1932, in Boonsboro, he was the son of the late John L. and Phebe Alice (Miller) Stotelmyer.
Phil was a 1952 graduate of the Boonsboro High School. He was a United States Veteran having served in the Marine Corps traveling to Lebanon, Greece, Turkey and Puerto Rico.
He was a member of Beaver Creek Christian Church. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, Amvets Post 10 in Hagerstown, the Joint Veterans Council and the Funkstown American Legion Post 211.
Phil is survived by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn M. Stotelmyer; his children, Mark Stotelmyer and wife, Rhoda of Boonsboro, Lisa Myers and husband, Mike, of Greencastle, PA and Kathy Stotelmyer and companion, Frank of Smithsburg; grandchildren, Roger Smith, Troy Stotelmyer, Garrett Stotelmyer and Morgan Stotelmyer; great-grandchildren, Brock Smith, Peyton Smith and Paige Smith; sister, Jean Swenson of Arlington Heights, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.
In 2012, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Swisher.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro, Maryland.
A celebration of Philip's life journey will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home. Rev. J. Mark Curran will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be held at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.
