Peter Ligocki, Sr.

Mr. Peter Stephen Ligocki, Sr., 88, of Frederick died Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Kline Hospice House. He was the husband of the late Peggy S. Ligocki, who predeceased him on December 19, 2004. They were married for 54 years.

Born September 22, 1928 in Nanticoke, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph T. Ligotsky and Stefania Ligocki.

Mr. Ligocki served 21 honorable years with the United States Navy, retiring on November 1, 1967 as Chief Petty Officer. He then worked as a microbiologist at Frederick Community Medical Lab until his retirement

He was a member of Post #11 American Legion, Elks Lodge, Owl's Club, and attended AARP luncheons. Mr. Ligocki participated in senior swim and volleyball at YMCA. He enjoyed attending dances with his late wife, Peggy, at Penn-Mar.

Surviving are his children, Topper Ligocki Bitler (Mark), Christopher Mathew Ligocki (Teresa); grandchildren, Jamey, Amy, Michael and Rhett; great-grandson, Sheel; brother, Joseph T. Ligotski; nieces, nephews, and many other friends including close friend Estelle Hines and her family.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is predeceased by a son, Peter S. Ligocki, Jr.,four siblings, Spohie G. Sladeski, Mary T. Sujdak, Elinor D. Pratko, and Rodger Ligotski.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday, August 21, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where services will begin at 3 p.m.

Graveside services will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23 at St. John's Cemetery in Frederick.
