Mrs. Penelope Ann Garland, 68 of Woodbine, MD died suddenly on Saturday, October 17, 2015. She was the wife of the late Gary Myers Garland. Penny was predeceased by her son, William Andrew Garland.
Born September 26, 1947 in Washington D.C., she was the daughter of the late William Earl and Helen Knighton Bromley. Penny was a Registered Nurse for 32 years. She volunteered at the Frederick Rescue Mission, was an avid Redskins fan and enjoyed dancing. Most of all Penny loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events.
Surviving are two sons: Charles Randolph "Randy" Garland and wife Jessica and Daniel Carress Garland and wife Logan all of Marriottsville; six grandchildren: Maxwell, William, Jack, Nicholas, Lilah and Vivienne Garland; six brothers and sisters: Billy Bromley, Robyn Conner, Terre Gates, Lisa Naples, Bruce Bromley and Kristyn Williams; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Wednesday, October 21, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy. A Memorial Mass will be offered at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 23, at St. Michaels Catholic Church at Poplar Springs, 1125 St. Michael's Rd. Mt. Airy with Rev. Michael J. Ruane as Celebrant.
Inurnment will take place in the church cemetery.
