Peggy Beeler

Peggy Maxine Beeler of Boonsboro died Thursday, April 9, 2020, at Elmcroft of Hagerstown.

Born February 14, 1932, she was the daughter the late Harry W. and Ella M. (Drenner) Otzelberger. The youngest of 10 siblings, Peggy is survived by one sister, Phyllis Seacrist of Martinsburg, WV. She is also survived by three children: J. Michael Beeler II (Cathy), Marcie J. Knight (George), and Marc D. Beeler, two grandchildren Jamie Mullendore (Trudy) and Charissa Beeler Hipp (Scott), five great grandchildren Christian Stanton, Owen Stanton, Sam Mullendore, Jack Mullendore and Julia Hipp. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. Her husband of almost 50 years, James M. Beeler, preceded her in death in 1998.

Peggy was a 1948 graduate of Boonsboro High School and worked at Potomac Edison and at Bast Furniture. Many remember her for the years she served as a Girl Scout leader in the community. A civic-minded individual, she served on various committees for the Town of Boonsboro and was active in the Fire and Rescue Department there. She held office and was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the fire department. She and her husband were CPR instructors, Emergency Medical Technicians and became some of the county’s first CardioRescue Technicians at Boonsboro. Peggy was also a member of Community Rescue Service.

She was a past member of Trinity Reformed UCC and presently a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church where she served on the church council and taught Sunday School.

The family will family will receive friends for 9-10am on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, MD. A celebration of life will begin at 10am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Boonsboro Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boonsboro Ambulance Company, Boonsboro Fire Company, Hospice of Washington County or to a charity of ones choice.
