Mrs. Pearl Drucilla Green Dewees,80 , of Thurmont, MD passed away Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Gettysburg Hospital. She was the wife of the late Ray (Pete) L. Dewees, they were married for 49 years.
Born on January 23, 1934 in Thurmont, MD she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Olive Green.
Pearl worked at the Thurmont Shoe Factory until she had her children. She was a loving wife and mother that enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. She especially enjoyed the years she spent with her granddaughter Katie.
She is survived by her children Gary Dewees and wife Suzie of Mt. Airy and Karen Nash and husband Chuck of Rocky Ridge; granddaughter Katie Volway and husband Scott of Fairfield, PA; siblings Ethel Minnick and Lottie Bittinger and her sister-in-law Ann Green. She will also be remembered by her Chihuahua Lucky.
She is preceded in death by her sister Catherine Brown, and husband Robert, brother-in-law Walter Minnick, sister Bernice Brice and husband Richard, sister Hilda Hurley and husband Bud, brother Leon Green and her brother Woodrow Green.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont Monday, May 19, 2014 from 7-9pm and Tuesday, May 20 from 12-1pm, where a funeral service will begin at 1pm Rev. Karin Albaugh will officiate.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
