Paul (Pug) E. Finneyfrock Jr., 77, of Thurmont, Maryland, passed from this life on Thursday, March 23, 2017.
Born on April 5, 1939, in Frederick, MD, he was the son of Paul E. Finneyfrock and Hazel Anna Mary (Speak) Finneyfrock.
He was the beloved husband of Ruth (Clabaugh) Finneyfrock, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 9, 2016.
In 1961 he joined the Navy where he served in Vietnam on the U.S.S. Ranger Aircraft Carrier. Pug retired from Moore Business Forms in Thurmont in 2001 after 35 years with the company.
Pug belonged to the Thurmont Jaycess, helping to start the Town Park. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 168 and the Frederick Moose Club Lodge 371.
He took pride in his garden and raising his delicious tomato's and cantelope's and looked forward to sharing his crops with his friends each season and loved maintaining his immaculate lawn. He also loved his "Hi-Fi System" which played country music and the blues. His favorite memory was jamming to the music with Jim Eyler and joyriding with Brian Forney rocking to their favorite tunes and most of all being with his daughter sharing their love of music and fishing. He was a big fan of the singer and player, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Dominio, Chubby Checker, Little Richard and Delbert McClinton. He also enjoyed dancing , playing pool and cards with his buddies and fishing at Ft. Washington, Maryland.
He is survived by wife, Ruthie, daughter, Rhonda Finneyfrock Preston, uncle, Norman Clyde Speak, Jr. (Jackie) of Frederick, MD; sister-in-law, Sonja Clabaugh of PA; nieces, Deborah Reckley and her husband Dave of Thurmont, MD, Linda Cooper and her husband Mike of Aspers, PA, Karen Thurley of Virginia; nephew, Charles Claubaugh of PA and their families; cousin, Tammy and Jamie Sizemore of Thurmont, MD, Kenneth Finneyfrock, Jr. of Thurmont, MD, Jimmy Finneyfrock of Waynesboro, PA. Pug will be missed by his devoted and loving friends, Jerry Reck, Jim Eyler, Hanford Cook, Jr., Kenny Fraley, Barbara Clements, Roger Clem and Bob and Dottie Maze. Ruthie wanted to thank especially Mark and Al Zienda, Jean Heims, Wilma Fogle, Alice Stambaugh , Irene Miller and the many friends who were her angels, providing much love and support during this most difficult time. Pug was dearly loved by all of Rhonda's friends.
He was predeceased in death by his brother Douglas Wayne Finneyfrock and son-in-law, John Joseph Preston, IV.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 104 East Main Street in Thurmont, MD.
A celebration of Paul 's life journey will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 104 East Main Street in Thurmont. Rev. James Hamrick will officiate. Interment will be at Blue Ridge Cemetery in Thurmont, MD.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Pug and Wayne to the Thurmont Fire Company or Trinity United Church of Christ.
