Pauline Reese Thomas, 92, longtime resident of Boonsboro, died Monday, May 3, 2010 at the Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born on October 28, 1917, in Beaver Creek, MD, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Spessard) Reese.
Her husband, George H. Thomas, of 27 years, died in 1969.
Pauline was an active member at the Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church in Boonsboro, where she had served as Treasurer for 25 years and had also been the President of the Mission Society, now known as the United Methodist Women. She also was a Children's Sunday School Instructor. During her children's time at the Boonsboro Schools, she was an active member of the PTA and served as President. She also supported the Band Boosters.
Mrs. Thomas worked as a hairdresser in her younger years and was employed at Pangborn where she worked as a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II. In later years, Pauline managed Thomas and Son's in Boonsboro until her retirement in 1982. She loved to travel and was also a proud volunteer "Flower Lady" at the Washington County Hospital for over 15 years.
She is survived by her two daughters, Ann M. Keyfauver and her husband Carroll, of Middletown, MD, and Carolyn S. Eden and her husband Gary, of Champaign, IL.; one sister-in-law Lorraine E. Thomas of Boonsboro; her niece Luana M. Goodwin of Philadelphia, PA; five grandchildren, Stephen D. Keyfauver and his wife Jodi, of Middletown, Amy M. Keyfauver of Frederick, Robert D. Eden and his wife Shannon of Savoy, IL, Laura A. Lang and her husband Joshua of Normal, IL, and Katherine J. Eden of Oxford, England; and 7 great-grandchildren, Xylea G., Maddox D.L., Lilliana F. Keyfauver of Middletown, Abigail J. Eden of Savoy, IL, Emma G., Noah A., and Alexander J. G. Lang, all of Normal, IL. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Pauline was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Services will be held on Friday, May 7, 2010, 11:00 AM, at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, P.A., 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, MD 21713. The Rev. Robert G. Brennan will officiate. Interment will be in the Boonsboro Cemetery.
Friends are invited to visit at the funeral home beginning at 9 am on Thursday, May 6, 2010 where the family will recieve friends from 6 - 8 p.m.
