Pauline Guyton Rice Duble, 94, of Thurmont, died Friday, April 21, 2017 at St. Joseph's Ministries in Emmitsburg.

Born in Burkittsville on May 13, 1922 to the late Aaron and Estie Rice, she was predeceased by Richard, her husband of 57 years, and by sisters Eva Fogle, Faye Gearhart, Eileen Stull, Olive Duble, and Erma Black; and brother, Emmert Rice.

Pauline is survived by a brother, Ernest Rice; son, Gerald Duble; grandsons, Brian and Kevin Duble; great-grandsons, Christopher, Matthew, Kyle, and Justin Duble, and Kevin Michael McElhaney; and great-great-granddaughters, Keira, Nora Kate, and Riley Duble. She will be missed by her family and many friends to whom she was dear.

Throughout most of her life, Pauline worked alongside her husband on their farm, also at various times working at Clair Frock, in the cafeterias of Thurmont Elementary and High Schools, and as a cashier/assistant manager of Jubilee Supermarket in Thurmont.

She was an active member of Monocacy Church of Brethren, serving in the Ladies Aid Society, Sunday school and choir, as well as an active associate of United Church of Christ, both in Rocky Ridge.

Pauline had been a member of the Thurmont Homemakers and Thurmont Senior Citizens, where she sang with the Catoctin Canaries. She will be remembered for her kind and giving ways, creator of many quilts, crafter of countless pins, Christmas decorations, favors, and more - and of course her lemon meringue pies.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26 from the funeral home with the family receiving friends 30 minutes prior to service. Officiating will be Pastor Tracy Wiser.

Interment will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Rocky Ridge.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mt. Tabor Cemetery Fund, c/o of Gene Stambaugh, 10043 Longs Mill Rd., Rocky Ridge, MD 21778; or to the Women's Aid at Monocacy Church of Brethren, 13517 Motters Station Road, Rocky Ridge, Md 21778.
