Paul Stup

November 16, 1919 — July 23, 2016

Paul Louis Stup, 96, of Middletown, Md., passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at his home enjoying the outdoors. Born November 16, 1919 in Gaithersburg, Md., he was the son of the late Arthur P. and Pearlie E. (Smith) Stup. He was married previously to the late Grace (Fink) and the late Cora (Lucas).

Paul was preceded in death by his siblings Claude and Hugh Stup and his stepson, Donald Andrews. Paul is survived by his stepson Jack and his wife Deanna and by stepson Donald’s wife Katherine, his nieces; Linda, Jeanette, and nephew Robert, grandchildren; Michele R. Flynn and her husband James, Shon Andrews, Heather L. Andrews-Gutierrez, and Michael P. Andrews, his great-grandchildren; Kayleigh Flynn, Dakota Gutierrez, Sierra Gutierrez, Killian Gutierrez, Milena Gutierrez, Nico Gutierrez, Seamus Gutierrez, Shilo Andrews, and Ayana Mizrachi (Andrews).

Paul worked for 35 years and retired from Washington Gas Light in Washington DC., then worked for Days Inn, and lastly worked for Weis’s grocery store in Frederick. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown and was a past member of the Middletown Fire Department Auxiliary, and a current member of American Legion Post #10 in Boonsboro, MD, AmVets Post #9 in Middletown, and the Washington Gas Light Quarter Century Club. He enjoyed life and always enjoyed working.

In later years Paul reminisced about his service time during World War II and his assignments in the U.S. Army Air Force. He loved his church, country and was proud of his roots and family. He will truly be missed but he will be so happy to see his family and friends that went before him. From your children you leave behind, thanks for being our dad, grandfather, and friend.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Avenue, Brunswick, Md. A funeral service will be held immediately after the visitation at 12 p.m. Rev Ron Reaves will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Luke’s Lutheran Cemetery in Derwood, Md. with a reception held back at Main Cup Restaurant on Main Street, Middletown at 3:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Paul’s name be made to the AmVets Post #9 in Middletown, Md. 21769.
