Paul Smith, Jr.

Paul Hessong Smith Jr., 86, of Boonsboro, passed from this life on November 5, 2017 at his residence. He was the husband of Diane Smith. Born on October 7, 1931, in Cavetown, he was the son of Paul Hessong Smith, Sr. and Catherine Naomi (Wagner) Smith.
Mr. Smith was a 1949 graduate of Boonsboro High School and served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War. He was a carpenter, having began his career at the Cavetown Planing Mill. Later, he worked for Huffer Brothers and Takara Construction. Paul was a member of the Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 in Hagerstown. He was a member of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 children Bret Allen Smith and wife Wendy, Mark Kevin Smith and wife Lori and Gina Irene Moss and husband Randy; 4 grandchildren Bradley Smith and wife Kristen, Ashley Smith, Mandi Socks and husband Nathan and Joshua Smith as well as a great-granddaughter, Arolyn Socks.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro, Maryland. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 10, 2017, at Boonsboro Cemetery.
