Mrs. Patsy Irene Keeney, 71, of Thurmont, died on Friday, May 7, 2010, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Kenneth James Keeney who died in 2007.
Born on March 1, 1939 she was the daughter of the late John Allen Benjamin and Alice Elizabeth Moser Holt. Mrs. Keeney was a homemaker and day care provider.
She enjoyed going on family vacations as well as flower gardening and bird watching. Patsy loved taking care of others and was a mother to all. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the family and friends who helped during her brief illness.
Surviving are 3 children: Billie Jo Keeney Caraker of Thurmont and her companion, Michael Pees of Kansas, Kenny Lee Keeney and wife Tammy of Thurmont and Benjamin David Keeney and wife Holly of Fairfield, PA; 4 grandchildren: Adam Baker and wife Malory of Fairfield, Kaylene Fraley, Kendra Keeney and Jacob Keeney all of Thurmont; 2 great-grandchildren, Aden Baker and Logan Baker; 6 brothers and sisters: John Holt and wife Marlene of Fairfield, Charlie Holt and wife Evelyn of Thurmont, William Holt of Thurmont, Linda "Peggy" Naill and husband Douglas of Union Bridge, Sharon Wolf and husband Sydney, II of Thurmont and Betty "Janie" Keeney and husband Walter D., II of Thurmont; a son-in-law, Steven Fraley of Thurmont; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Patsy will also be remembered by special friends, Mama Dot and Bob Maze, and Kayla West whom the baby sat for her entire childhood.
Mrs. Keeney was preceded in death by a daughter, Kennita Lou Keeney Fraley; and 2 sisters: Rebecca Naill and Mary Hurley.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 on Monday, May 10, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont where services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 11, with Rev Richard Broome of Wellers United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will take place at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick with Sydney Wolf, III, Gary Naill, Glen Naill, Walter Keeney, III, John Holt, Jr, Charles Holt, Jr, Michael Grimes and William Naill, Jr serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
