Patrick Weed

Patrick (Pat) Albert Weed, age 79, of Rockville/ Frederick, Maryland, passed away March 20, 2019.  He was surrounded by family and died peacefully. He was the husband of Linda E. (Rundell) Weed.  Pat was born May 3, 1939 in Washington, D.C., and was the 2nd child of the late David L. Weed and Wilma (Sparks) Weed.

He graduated from Richard Montgomery High School in 1957 and enlisted in the U.S  Marine Corps. He trained to be a Mortarman, specifically the 81mm mortars and also trained as an automatic rifleman (the BAR).  He later became a parachutist after completing the Airborne course at Ft. Benning, Georgia.  He qualified and was a member of the newly formed 2nd Force Recon Company as a member of the Pathfinder Platoon.

After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, Pat graduated from Montgomery College with a degree in Cartography.   He worked as a Cartographer for the Federal Government Defense Mapping Agency and retired after 36 years.  During this time, he also served as the Union President for AFGE Local 3407.   Pat was also an active real estate broker with over 50+ years of experience and owned Patrick Realty Company.  One of Pat’s biggest gifts was helping people, and through real estate he helped not only his friends, but several generations of clients in the Rockville/Kensington area.  He also enjoyed his time owning and working at the ski lodge in Braddock Heights, Maryland.

Pat and Linda enjoyed 42 years of marriage.  They enjoyed traveling and visiting family and friends.    Pat also enjoyed continuing education classes and Sudoku to keep his mind sharp. He loved playing euchre, as well as, his favorite game, Rummikub.  Most importantly, Pat cherished the time he spent with Linda, his 4 kids and 9 grandchildren.

Pat is survived by his wife Linda, his four children and their families:   Robert & Yvonne Weed of Westminster, MD and their children Patrisha & Logan; Lisa & Dave Simpson of Canton, OH and their children, Matthew, Lauren, and Andrew; Teresa Lammers of Canal Winchester, OH and her children William and Erika; and Charles & Molly Weed of Columbus, OH and their children Zachary and Elizabeth.  He is also survived by his 3 brothers:   Michael and Judy Weed, WV; David and Fawn Weed, MD; and Timothy Weed of MD.  He was loved and will be missed by family, friends and colleagues along with his many nephews and nieces and their families, and in-laws. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his father-in-law Harry Rundell, his sister-in-law Suzanne Weed, nephew Brian Weed, and his “chosen brother” and best friend Walt Bowers.

On Saturday, March 30, 2019, the family will receive friends from 1:00- 3:00 p.m. at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21701.  A Chapel service will begin at 3:00 p.m. at Stauffer’s.  Starting at 4:00 p.m. the family will host Pat’s “Celebration of Life” at the FSK Post #11 American Legion, 1450 Taney Ave., Frederick, MD 21702.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Pat to the Hospice of your choice.
