Mr. Patrick J. Stevens, 53, of Mt. Airy, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on April 20, 2015 at 1:50 p.m. with family and friends surrounding him at Gilchrist Hospice facility in Columbia, MD after a 5 year battle with Lymphoma and Chronic Graft Vs. Host Disease. He was the husband of Noreen Callahan Stevens, his wife of 14 years.
Born May 9, 1961, in Ellicott City, he was the son of the late William and Jeanne Stevens. Patrick was raised on a small farm in Ellicott City and was the eighth of nine children. He graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree from University of Maryland, College Park in 1984 and from Johns Hopkins a Masters of Science in 1989. He was a man of God, full of integrity and vigor for truth. A lover of Christianity, education and athletics. His career in Engineering at Hughes Network Systems ended in 2011 due to his illness. He loved sailing, working outside, sports, theological debates, family and high quality food. His passion was to share Christ with his loved ones and anyone he would meet. He loved to learn and taught his children the values of godliness and holiness.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Noreen (47), are two sons, Robert (23) and Shepard Stevens (21) and a daughter, Mackenzie Stevens (7), daughter-in-law - Sarah Radcliffe Stevens (21) and grandson - Titus Stevens (18 mo's). Brothers: Mike, Chris, Paul, Philip, and John Stevens all local in the area. Sisters: Mary Snellinger (NY), Kathy McCoy (CO), and Theresa Hannibal (MD).
The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM on Thursday, April 23, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd in Mt. Airy. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 25, at Mt. Airy Presbyterian Church, 17455 Old Frederick Rd., Mt. Airy, MD 21771. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Airy Presbyterian Church at the above address and/or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 11350 McCormack Rd., Suite 100EP3, Hunt Valley, MD 21031.
