Patricia "Pat" Schrecongost

Patricia (Pat) Dibble Schrecongost, 92, passed peacefully in Frederick, Maryland at Buckingham’s Choice on January 17, 2018.   Born in Lincoln, Nebraska to Lester C. and Dorothy N. Dibble, Pat is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband John Robert Schrecongost, and their son, Brian.  She is survived by her sisters Dorlese Watkins of Boston, MA and Diana Bishop of Cary, NC, her eight children, Barbara Bell, Bob Schrecongost, Becky Madine, Bill Schrecongost, Brenda Angle, Brad Schrecongost, Beth Rhodes, Bonnie Monninger, 12 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and 20+ great-grandchildren.
Pat lived with her maternal grandmother for her senior year of high school in Mason City, IA then attended the University of Maryland where she became a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.  She met Schrec in her Algebra class and after their courtship and marriage, they relocated in 1947 to Erie, Pennsylvania where she perfected the art of being a wife, mother and homemaker.  Pat, affectionately known as “Queen Bee” as her children’s names all begin with the letter “B”, loved babies, dogs, music, sewing, reading, solving crossword puzzles and family functions with a good glass of Chardonnay.  She contributed to her community by volunteering with Meals on Wheels, supporting the schools her children attended and rocking babies in a neonatal ward in a hospital.
In the pursuit of Jack’s career after leaving Erie, PA, the family lived in Lawrence Park, PA; Wallingford, PA; Radnor, PA; Libertyville, IL; Russell, OH; Grasonville, MD and finally moved to Adamstown, MD to be near her two youngest daughters and their families.
A private family service will be held on January 25, 2019 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.
Donations in her memory can be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the Smile Train and the Alzheimer’s Association.
