Patricia Schoonover

March 20, 1936 — May 10, 2016

Mrs. Patricia Ann "Pat" Schoonover, 80, of Frederick died peacefully on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at her home with her family by her side. She was the wife of Eugene "Gene" Schoonover for nearly 55 years.

Born March 20, 1936 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Charles William and Beatrice Mae (Long) Shuff.

An accomplished seamstress, Pat was owner/operator of Sew Plain and Fancy for many years in the Frederick area. More recently, she was known as "The Bra Lady" and offered custom fitted bras, long-line bras, and prosthetic fittings for breast cancer survivors.

Throughout the years, she assisted her husband in his business, Gene's Lock Service. Pat loved gardening and looked forward to enjoying her beautiful flowers each spring. She was especially fond of the colors red and purple.

Pat was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where she was a choir member, social ministry chair, participated with the  caring ministry team, and the altar guild. She loved being with family and, over the years, she and Gene assisted in raising their nieces and helping several Vietnamese families settle in the Frederick area. Pat had a kind, giving heart and was given a second chance at true love with her high school sweetheart when he returned from his military service many years ago. They were married in August of 1961.

She is survived by her daughter, Marcia Bell and husband, Gary, of Lewistown; two sons, Keith William Schoonover and wife, Lori, of Wolfsville; and Allan Eugene Schoonover and wife, Betsy, of Boonsboro; grandchildren, Gregory Lambert and wife, Paula; Katharyn Rentzell and husband, Chip; Kyrie Stewart and wife, Julie; Kaleb Schoonover and fiancée, Olivia; Karlin Schoonover and boyfriend, Joe Karth; John Agostinelli; Stephanie Agostinelli; Jessica Agostinelli; Mike Agostinelli; Matthew Schoonover and fiancée, Kelsey Facemire; Amber Oliver and husband, James; Danielle Hamrick and Stephen Hamrick; and great-grandchildren, Garrett, Nathaniel and Cody Rentzell; Sarah and Austin Lambert; and Emerson and Kaeden Schoonover.

Pat is also survived by two sisters, Nelda Louise Burdette and husband, Lewis; and Doris Jane Way; a brother, Charles William Shuff, Jr. and wife, Cheryl; many nieces and nephews, and her many extended Vietnamese family members, including foster son, Tay Van Nguyen.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Robert Eugene Shuff, and a brother-in-law, Andrew Jackson Way.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 16 from Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1415 West Seventh Street, Frederick with Pastor Mark Huffman officiating.

Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Serving as pall bearers will be grandsons, Gregory Lambert, Matthew Schoonover, and Kaleb Schoonover; and church friends, Carl Hildebrand, Mark Howell, and Jim Latham.
