Patricia "Pattie" Phillips unexpectedly passed away February 21, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Pattie, the youngest daughter of Jean Spaur-Riddle and Leonard Spaur, was born April 16, 1957 at Georgetown Hospital. She was a graduate of Bowie High School class of 1975. Soon after graduating high school, she met and married Gary Loop of International Falls, Minnesota. While in Minnesota she worked at the ODC Group Home.
In 1979, they welcomed their first child, Tracy. In 1982, their second daughter, Keri, was born. During 1986, Pattie moved back to Maryland with her children.
Her Federal career at the National Institutes of Health began in 1989 as an accounting technician. She was a loyal employee for 24 years.
Pattie married her best friend James Phillips October 14, 1995. Together they made a home for their family in Walkersville, Maryland. They had a fun time with projects around the house including painting, repainting, new floors and fixtures. She always had a vision of what she wanted her perfect home to look like and Jim always accommodated, letting her visions come true.
She had an amazing sense of humor. Was very witty, always had a joke or laugh. She loved spending time with her family, especially her beloved granddaughter Logan, whom she enjoyed spoiling. Pattie and Logan spent many precious evenings together cuddling on the couch watching Shrek. Pattie was Logan's partner in crime, she would sneak Logan candy before meals and allowed her to climb and jump all over the furniture. Hugs were Pattie's favorite things to receive. She was always there for her friends and family. A lover of animals, her dog Bailey was never more than a foot away from her. Her favorite movies were "Pretty in Pink" and "Home Alone." Christmas was her favorite time of the year when her family would gather every year at her home, decorated completely from floor to ceiling.
She is survived by her loving family and many friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. Mother, Jean Riddle; husband, James Phillips; and two children whom she loved more than anything: Tracy Goss and Keri Bray She is also survived by sons-in-law William Goss and Crispin Bray, plus three siblings: Michael Spaur; Donna MacGregor and Cathy Spaur; and brother-in-law David MacGregor.
